Now and again, it is still possible to hear the singing of some Habaneras in the evening, when pensioners, with a porrón of wine in their hands, cannot resist the nostalgia of past times. Fish from the Cantabrian Sea comes to our plates from the hands of fishermen who keep still alive this ancient sailor-fashion tradition, using the old fishing techniques. The porrones and bottles of wine, the tapas, anchovies, rabas (squid tentacles), stuffed peppers, Ventresca or Tuna belly, Octopus Galician style or Padrón peppers have converted this Wine Shop into the favourite one of foreigners and Spaniards who enjoy going round the bars at noon or love to have an afternoon snack or dinner at a traditional environment of "the" Santander of the early years of the XXth Century. This house is specialised in home cooking and, in 1983, became one of the pioneers in Cantabria in the field of snacks and cazuelitas, with the guarantee that all our products are cooked with virgin olive oil obtained following the cold extraction process. At Bodegas Mazón, we do not only serve wine, but we also retail it. If you visit our Wine Shop you will be able to buy our delicious wine. Bodegas Mazón is present at Sport Events and Traditional Fiestas, in which it cooperates free of charge; the one held on 16th July at Puertochico, in the honour of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, patron of seamen, is very touching. A Golf Tournament was held in 2002 to commemorate the Centenary of Bodegas Mazón at Abra del Pas (Mogro). The tournament was held again in 2003, and there is a firm intention to institutionalise it. |
